Nephews first bear
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:50:02 PM »
This is my nine year old nephew's first year hunting and on his second weekend out, has downed one of the prettier bears I've seen, with a chocolate coat and a white V patch on his chest. After spending opening weekend behind closed gates hiking and mountain biking, I decided to give him a break and take him down some open to the public logging road, hoping not to burn him out. Well, after glassing a clearcut just after sun up for about an hour, we decided to move down the road a little ways and find a new one. We didn't make it far before running into this bear only a hundred yards into the cut. We jumped out and climbed up on a slash pile to get a clear shot. Lucky for us, this bear was patient and stuck around long enough for me to get my nephew set up and video camera out. After the shot the bear made it about a hundred yard down the hill before expiring. After this, he might think hunting is easy.

Congrats to the young man!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Nice job! Are you going to post the video?
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I only got about ten seconds of film before the shot and the blood tracking. Besides I don't think Im techy enough to figure it out.
