Trail Cams and baiting
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:35:48 PM »
Just a question,  I've been looking at the post on here and thinking the trail cam pics are really cool but what about the issue of baiting?  When does it become illegal...for example the salt block?  I have no idea.

Only when you're shooting bears over bait...

Just don't use corn. You will have three hundred pictures of blue jays and 6 dead batteries.

Does baiting also pertain to elk and deer?  I mean if you have been using bait at your trail cam and then go in and hunt that spot on opening day do you need to have cleared the bait out prior?

As best I can understand the regs...baiting deer and elk is not a violation, I've never done it for hunting purposes only trail cameras.  The only reference I can find is about baiting for bear.

The regs also reference bating game birds as being illegal.

You mean baiting like this big fresh pile of apples moved alongside the woods and field??   :chuckle:

I've been dropping these off at my buddy's house to 'fatten' these does back up after giving birth to their fawns. I'd like to make sure they have plent of meat on them bones to make it through the cold nights.....

These are actually my first trail cam pictures too.....I was pleasantly surprised at my $55 Moultrie that I found in the sale rack at a particular retailer who I don't really like shopping at unless it's for my daughters diapers (they're the cheapest).
