Question about a Cobray .45 lc / .410 darringer.
« on: August 22, 2012, 12:16:19 PM »
I just picked up a cobray .45 lc / .410 double barrel darringer.  It is chambered for 3" .410.  Can I safely shoot 2.5" .410 shells out of it??

Does anyone else have one of these and what do they think.  Mine has the 11" barrel and I am planning on using if for grouse as I travel the roads on my dual sport.

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Johnny

If it is chambered for 3" you can definitely shoot 2.5" safely.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

A friend has the SNUBBY version of that...and with 3" the recoil is "SNAPPY"....the 11" MIGHT mitigate that a bit...but be aware.

Nothing wrong with the 2 1/2".... Killed a lot with them including pheasant, chukar, grouse, quail, coyote, coons, grouse, rabbit, you name it in small game.....       But I do prefer the 3" with 4 shot...... With the yotes around here I've been using cut slugs....

My thought is that 2 1/2 will be great plenty for grouse.  They are really dumb birds and allow you to get really close, heck I could almost beat them to death with this gun.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

:) :) I got a 410 in 1956 have killed tons of stuff with it, my experience is that 3 inch kill much better and the 2.5 actually cost more and are harder to find. How come 410 shells cost so dang much!!!!! :dunno:
