Access to Clemens Mt. from Wenas Rd.
« on: August 22, 2012, 09:06:56 PM »
I heard this summer that the new property owner, who owns the old "Bass" farm, has closed the gate, on his property, that allowed people access to Clemens mt. from the Wenas Rd. I have been looking on hear for a while to see any discussion on this. I heard the state was trying to negotiate something with the owner. Does anyone have any info on this. This could affect a lot of people if this is true.
I will keep my guns, money and freedom. You can keep the change!

cant you still access it through where they feed the elk? You can go all the way up and over.

The last I heard it is still closed, there are a few ways to get in there but the main road where alot of camps have been you cant get to if your pulling a trailer. If you camp in a wall tent you are good. You can go in on the 410 side and the Jones rd and the Hog Ranch rd from the Wenas side.

There are no animals on Clemens to have a road to it anyway

It is still closed, saw the signs and talked to a rancher on the road while scouting..

Ya, my son & I posted this closure back in May, no changes that I have heard of. New land owner closed the gated, plus Coffen placed ecology blocks across @ they Y where his property is. DNR has been working on access, but nothing yet. You will have to use 1701 off 410, off Hog Ranch Rd. or thru the green gate off N. Wenas Rd. & go up thru Jones Canyon.
I ve hunted that area for over 40 years, so do you think i am mad, yes, but we will still get into our hunting area off Hog Ranch. Think DNR messed this one up.

Was it DNRs fault? I heard it was the Horse group that used the area for poker runs. they threatened the land owner with a law suit to open it early. He wanted to show them how much he cares and decided to just close it all year. You can thank them.  He didnt want to open it early because his cattle was still about. arguing with the land owner proves pointless. But this is all speculation. I dont know for sure. I do know who owns it though.
No if ands or Buts just Maybee.

I also heard it was because of the horse group threatening lawsuit.   Kinda don't blame the guy.
