Regal cinemas gun policy
« on: August 23, 2012, 01:12:15 PM »
Apparently Regal is not only forbidding legal carry in their establishments they are also now searching purses for weapons on entry. Below is a pic of one of their signs and link to their facebook page with tons of complaints about the searches and gun policy.

They are a private business. It is their right. Just don't go.

It is a private business, but maybe if enough gun owners express our displeasure over this they might reconsider the policy.

I saw a post on another forum that brought up what I consider a good point. If a business is going to tell customer's and/or employees that they cannot be armed for defense, they should be liable to provide adequate security to keep those unarmed customer's and/or employees safe.  :twocents:

This didn't work so well for the patrons in Aurora, CO now, did it? Gun-free zones. What a really dumb, liberal, feel-goody policy.

Searching purses for guns?  Yeah, right.  They are just using that as an excuse to look for candy. 8)  :)

Netflix has no such policy for watching movies in your own home. You can have a tank with you if you like. The candy is cheaper and you can watch all the movies you want for 8.99/month. And there's no jerk behind you with a cell phone!

Now I want a tank....

It would go great with that bow!

It would be nice to have a Tank while watching a movie, but it might be hard to see the screen of my 27" TV from the Tank out in my yard..........  :dunno:    :)

I only go to movie theaters maybe once a year at the most.  And that is when I think a movie would be better on a big screen than my small screen at home.  But, I probably won't even go that often anymore if these moron theater owners continue with their anti-gun policies. :twocents:

So....hear is a question for all you legally minded members.   If this sign is posted and you are caught with a concealed weapon, what will happen.  Will they just tresspass you?  So you cannot come back on the premise or will you potentially be in more trouble with the law?

I would assume I would see the sign and simply skip the place and move on. If I was to push it and carry concealed anyway I would simply apologize (for getting caught) and be on my way.

I would think that if you make a scene it is one story and if you simply agree to leave quietly knowing you are in the wrong it would be a non issue.

I would think they would simply ask you to leave.  Might become a bit of a problem if they kick you out after you've already bought a movie ticket and they refuse to refund your money.......

I think trespass is one of the options.  Maybe they could find something more extreme.  Private property/business so I don't see a problem--they just lose certain kinds of business.
