Bassett Hound

I recently rescued a young Basset Hound, I have wanted one since I was a kid watching Smokey and the Bandit and Dukes of Hazzard. He is a great family dog so far and he is not gun shy (I take him out shooting). I would like to train him on small game (Rabbits, etc), does anyone here have experience with using Bassett Hounds hunting? I have surfed some websites about it but want your opinion
