Grouse in Winthrop? Just got here
« on: August 31, 2012, 03:07:35 PM »
I stoped by the ranger station and got a map but knew better then to ask them for a good hunting spot so I just saw a shop in town that sells hunting licenses so I think they might be able to point me in the right direction, brought my rifle and bear tag also

Go up eight mile creek road, lots of spur roads off of it with grouse
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Cub creek/Eight mile is one of the better places to look for a bear also. What are you driving I will probably see you up there I drive a 2012 dodge Diesel crew cab L/B Grey with a "Smoke a pack a day" sticker on the back window. And a choclate Lab looking for Cow's to bark at out of the back window's.

Got one grouse today, my gsp even retrieved it for me! ( my dog is a hunting machine but would not retrieve birds but has always retrieved everything else like a lab would so I'm pretty happy

I hunted that area on the opener also. Jumped one.........Maybe after the first hard freeze.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.
