first deer of the season for huntwa?
« on: September 01, 2012, 08:38:21 PM »
Do I win anything? Haha royboy and I headed out today to some of our old stomping grounds we hunted as kids. We always try and get out pnce a year when im home from mt, I only had 2 days to hunt this time so I wasn't going to be picky.
Anyways we got to our first spot and kicked up a little buck first thing. We hunted a small cut and kicked up a few more deer but couldn't ever get a shot. It was 830 by then and we headed to our next spot not expecting much. Beat the brush for an hour or so and were bsing on the way out when we saw 2 does in a fresh cut. I stalked into 30 yards of them and let one loose with out checking my 20 yard pin on the small branch above  :bash: it deflected and was a clean miss. We found my arrow and were talking for a while, then out of no where a nice 3 point jumps out of a big patch of salal not 10 yards away, he was there the whole dam time  :bash: we both just laughed about it and continued on, we were having a good time just being in the woods!
After that we took the long way out and saw some more deer. Stalked up on one and drew back when her fawn stepped out, I couldnt do it so I let down. A short while later another doe stepped out at 65 yards. Settled my pin on her and let it fly. Hit her a touch back but she only went 70 or 80 yards and piled up! The "dull" shuttle ts made a complete pass through.
So we packed her up got her home butchered her and she was on ice with asmn hour.
