ya whitetail deer snort a lot. I have heard them in the field I have hunted in the past many a hunt. For my
worth it seems they see you but don't recognise what you are so are trying to get you to move so they can.
Had a buck a few years ago same land just comming out of the creek bottom do this just to get me turn my head. After a few moments to check him to see if he was a 3 point or better or not I finally stood up he ran off then. But stood there snorting and stomping the ground. Deer looked pissed too for I was on no hunting but by permission so maybe he was who knows. Lol but ya whitetails snort it happens. Things surprise the best of us.
