New Under Armour scent control
« on: September 02, 2012, 03:33:05 PM »
Wandered around Cabela's yesterday getting together a birthday list  :chuckle: and found the new Under Armour scent control clothing  I really liked the fabric used, nice and quite. The ads for it says that it will last 10x longer than a carbon scent control suit. Really like all my other under armour gear. Just wondering what everyone else think of the new stuff? thinking over the year I will be piecing together new gear for next year  :chuckle:

Sounds like a gimmick just like scent lock and money you can save by just learning to hunt with the wind in your favor.

It's pretty comfy and has some serious wicking ability.

Ok I gotta ask all of you guys who say "Don't buy into that scent control crap" have you ever tried it? I start out the first 10 years of my hunt life with old bdu's, then moved on to real tree/mossy oak for the next 5. Then 3 years ago or so my wife bought me a scentlok top and bottom. You know what I saw more game, yeah weird huh? I have never eaten tag soup on a deer tag either, so I guess I might know a little something about hunting(by far not a expert ). Not saying that it will make you invisible, it just helps. But then again all of you that hate scent control probably also all hate the idea of illuminoks and expandable broadheads as well right?

I don't put any stock into it. I smell bad to all wildlife except squirrels and hummingbirds  :chuckle: It makes a great base layer though and it keeps me from stinking to myself so I dig it  :IBCOOL:

If it gives you the confidence and you have the extra money to burn, go for it. I've never had a problem finding game or getting close when the wind is in my face.

YUP Did a little study a few years ago..I had a buddy who was nuts for this stuff..told him to prepare his clothes and himself a he would to hunt..I was heading to check cams and hang a stand down the road..he tagged along wearing his clothes..told him when we got back I wanted all his clothes and I would show him something...took his clothes and laid them in my alfalfa field about 200 yards from the tree line..the wind blew from the timber to field to sunset then switching to blowing from field timber ...as clock work the deer were poring into field to eat..the wind switched and wouldnt u know it the deer downwind of clothing began blowing and trotted off.

I have heard people say I have had deer downwind of me in this stuff! well so have I and I dont wear it! Just this morning and yesterday i had deer downwind of me while I ate a snickers bar :chuckle: watch the thermals u can be 20ft up and have a rising temp and a breeze right at a deer but your scent is going higher than your stand!

I can respect that, I just know that when I'm wearing scent control and the wind swirls I get blown out less often than when I am not. As far as the new under armour stuff goes, scent control or not still think I'm gonna pick it up. Really like the fabric and moisture wicking of it, plus it's still $50 cheaper than Sitka or kryptic gear...  :chuckle:

Myth Busters had a great show recently. One of the boys suted up in scent control fabric. Sprayed some fancy scent control over him. Put on a gas mask with the filter backward so not to exhale out (not sure how well that system worked). Than over the top of all of that he put on a plastic suit head to toe. Everthing was taped up to prevent any air/scent leaks. He ran into the woods and hid. Very quickly the chase bloodhound found him 4 different times. Yea i know that it's TV, but I agree with their findings. it's a gimic. Stay down wind.  BTW... A majority of your sent is released through your mouth. Get something to match the elements and that you can shoot in. Try not to sweat (tough to do when Elk hunting). Wash your cloths every day to reduce the amount BO.

I don't use recomend illuminoks or expandable broadheads. If you pay attention to details scent lock, illuminoks and expandable broadheads are a waste of Money.  :twocents:
Don't spend your last day on earth saying "I wish I would have"

The carbon is supposed to absorb scent. If it does I am positive that it had already absorbed its capacity before it even sees store shelves. And there is no way to recharge it... its like saying your truck had a full tank of gas from the dealer when you bought it so it will never need refilled and will run forever. Besides the scent ill all just come out the neck and arm openings anyways if it can't penetrate the fabric. Popke stink and there is no way to make us not stink...
