same here, east bound and running 5am, 8am loading gear on the horses, 9am ish horse bound 6 miles into the William o Douglas wilderness with my quality tag, pops with his quality and cow tag, my other buddy with his cow tag. camera with extra batteries are charged, arrows are flying like a dream, hopes are high, expectations low, and should be a trip to remember!

I went out to 560 on Monday to beat the crowds and settle in to an area. I started my season at dawn on Tuesday, and it proved to be the only day I would have any encounters with any animals. One animal was a cow elk I couldn't convince to come inside of about 100yds and the other was a Cinnamon phase Black bear that was chomping on blueberries about 30 yards from my camp. It figures that the one critter that gets within shooting distance is the one tag I didn't have.
I decided to leave by Thursday. It was pretty dry up there. It was like trying to sneak around on potato chips. I may do a couple more day trips to 454 before the elk season ends. I guess I could go ahead and buy the multi-season for deer too, if I feel like extending it beyond my archery tag for scheduling reasons. It was pretty tempting to run back into town and get a bear tag then go back and see if I could find that guy again, but I decided against it.

hey guys just thought i stop by and say thanks for the luck. I ended up sticking a nice 4x2 on the last morning and last hour before packing it up. rain all night + cool morning + little sun = perfect bow/ clear cut hunting!!!! good luck to all!!!
it's now time for me to switch gears for deer.

Congrats guys! Way better then me! 6 years, 3 elk and not one with a horn on it's head!
All the critters I have taken and yet to shoot a bull elk with horns on it's head!
I am getting closer started with calf, then yearling, then cow
Maybe my next one will be a spike
