(  I am concerned that doubling the number of multi-season tags has a bunch of idiots running around that usually rifle hunt and have no clue about bowhunting.

Probably more of a problem on your side of the state, I think the wanna-be's will get discouraged quickly over here when they find alot of roads gated, hard to road hunt with a gate in the way. :chuckle:

 :yeah:
That's one of my biggest reasons for waiting until late season, better looking antlers and pretty hides!  They just look better all around during the late season.  Right now they look like dogs with the mange and fungus on their noggins.

Since I saw it in a picture on here, I think I'm gonna tape a flashlight to my bow to get this smart old fella  :chuckle: :chuckle:
OK OK not gonna do that but did a biggy give this grandpa deer a reg book with the dates and times of hunting season  :chuckle:
He has been 20-30 yrds from my blind for the last 4 days 30-45min after or before shooting light  :bash: :bash:
He will slip up though at some point and then  :cue:

Got a video but can't get it out of AVI into whatever it needs to be...

I had a 4 x 4 mulie with eye guards come walking towards me.  I thought it was going to go to the right, so I got set up at the edge of the sage.  I was on my knees.  I lift my head and all I could see was his rack coming at me, he didn go right like I thought he would.  As soon as he got to the edge of the sage he whipped his head to the left and had me pinned.  Only the head was sticking out at 9 feet.  I was at full draw and we had a stare off for about 2 minutes at full draw.  He took one more step forward and I was going to take a shoulder shot.  I took aim and released and caught a pretty big chunk of sage with the arrow which was not in the sight picture and watched my arrow go about 30' in the air and out of sight.  I checked the bush after the deer bolted and saw where I hit it.  I also followed the tracks to make sure I didn't graze the deer.  Whatched it go up and over the ridge and out of sight.  Talk about bummed.  This was at about 6:20 on Saturday morning.  I also had a smaller 2-point whitetail at about 15 yards, but I decided to hold out as it was only openning morning.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I went out last night a couple hours before dark into a walk in area and in the back of
The 1st cut was a nice tall forky, I stalked him to about 50 yards and then I spooked him. I don't think I would have took him but just warming up for my hunten trip in 2 weeks. He was a big bodied deer with a nice tall rack still in velvet.

Dustin nailed this whitetail buck early opening morning, he said he saw numerous does and this was the first buck to come by and he decided it would make a good first whitetail. One well placed arrow did the trick.

Looks like he had plenty of firepower if that first arrow didn't connect! Lol

Passed on a decent buck at 55 yards.  He would have went 21-22" wide.  Just couldn't do it this early in the season.....

X2 that's why I bought the modern tag this yr and hunting with my bow (west side) If I'm not going to take advantage of deer hunting in Sept than I might as well hunt the rut with my bow in Oct/Nov.
