Bank Access Coho....a nice tip for you.
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:44:13 AM »
I am assuming they still do this since the Posession Point Bait company is still doing business. If you are able to get over to Whidbey there is some fun coho fishing to be had. The Possesion Point Bait company has a nice stretch of beach to fish from I've done it over the years before I had a boat. Basically you show up early early am, buy your dozen herring, and float fish. They have buckets to keep your bait alive and the basic rig is a fixed float with a 4 to 8 foot leader....whatever you can cast....with a weight midway down and a double hook rig to the herring. Everyone fishes like drifting a hole at your local river. Cast out...drift with the tide...real in. When everyone gets in a rythm it can be a blast. If you fish there keep in mind to reel your bait in slowly at the end of the drift. Your herring will spin and sometimes get crushed only a few feet from the beach. Keep a net handy for thrashing fish or just drag them up on the beach and grab them before they beat themselves on the rocks. For Floats a slip style is nice that way you have a little less leader to work with on the drift.

I was just talking about this a couple days ago and couldn't remember the name. Been years sense I have been down there but it was a blast when I did.
