Opening Day Buck
« on: September 03, 2012, 04:48:22 PM »
Got this guy the morning of the opener.  Found him the day before but we hunted some other bucks first thing in the morning.  Found him with two does mid morning and put a stalk on him to 45 yards.  The rest is history.  I thought I got the whole thing on my GoPro video camera but the battery died :bash: :bash:  That would have been sweet.

Not as well as I was hoping... There wee three bucks I have been watching up there and one is a seriouse bruiser... Got in there sat morning and was on a bear within three minutes. Got within 40 yards with the bow, but the brush was too high for a good shot. Tried to get a different angle, and........busted. stupid pine cones.

The hike up the 2 miles was a breeze with the left over adrenalin.

Got up to my spot where they've been linvin' and seems that two of them were bedding down just left of the goat trail and it was over before it really had a chance to get started.  Didn't see them the rest of the hunt.

Saw a couple more bucks in pretty much outer space, and a couple more small bears.

Leaving for my elk camp tomorrow morning, so won't be back up there for a week...

Tony
