Archery Bear
«

It's been a goal of mine to harvest a bear with a bow. Yesterday I had the chance and I connected! I spotted this bear on the top of the ridge working his way up. After about an hour of stalking I was unable to find him and figured the bear could have only gone one way to sneak out. Which was along an old creek bed. I followed the creek and eventually ran into the bear that was working over some brush. I stalked in another 30 yards to give myself a 50 yard shot and I took it. The bear let out a growl as the arrow hit it's mark. I hit him right behind shoulder and bear went 10 yards before stopping. He didn't move, just stood there. I put another arrow in him at 35 yards that went behind shoulder and out his arm. He bailed into the brush and didn't make another noise. I was stoked! I went back to where my dad was and he had a huge smile on his face. He heard the bear let out his bawl. The best hunting trip we have had!

Great job! I have yet to take a bear with a bow, one of my goals also. It's hard to sneak up on a bear in the thick stuff, nice job.

Very cool Brian, great looking bear. I bet all that wrestling training really helped for that last pic.

Congrats on a VERY nice bear. Good to see another tag was not turned into "Tag Soup". Don't forget to post pics after you get your rug back, along with the stats on that VERY NICE bear.
I, too, am working on getting my first bear, with a bow. Went out this last weekend and was within 50 yards of two, but before I could see them, they winded me. I have until Nov 15th and, sooner or later, one will get careless and decide to come home with me.

Great job! I have shot a few big bears with my rifle but they have managed to elude me with a bow so far. Congrats!
