who's doing the high hunt this year?
«

Just wondering who's hitting the high country this sept? I was heading back into the Alpine Lake's but I drew a Entiat tag and not sure about getting time off or not. I might do a 4 day hunt for bear and glass deer for my pard.
Which is your high haunt? Mine Alpine lake wilderness!!

This will be my second year. I kinda wonder if the bucks are bigger in the Payestean. ALW put the deer closer to their cousin the Blacktail. I just thought of this.
For me it's more about the adventure and seein lots of bear. Wonder which one of these wilderness area's has the best gene pool.

I'll be in the Apline lakes wilderness are with my two sons. I just started getting myself in shape as soon as i found out I didn't get drawn for any deer hunts. This hunt is more about being in the high country then anything. I can't wait. I better start getting in shape.

I was headed to the Pasayten or Chelan Rec area, but NM is calling my name this year. I couldn't tell you which has the biggest gene pool. ANy of the Chelan country seems to produce big animals. I've seen some boss hawgs in the Teanaway, and several migrators out of the Pasayten are big. I've yet to see a true hawg in the Pasayten, but they have to be back there somewhere as they migrate out of there.

I won't make the high hunt this year. We'll be too busy scouting Toutle and Oregon for the elk tags we drew there.

Zane, glad to see you on here finally! You'll probably find it better in many ways than 'the other site'... I forgot, is your scouting trip this week or was it last week? How'd it go?

I am planning to try the ALW this year. I hunted the Pasayten last season south of the burn and saw a lot of does, bot no bucks.
Does anyone out there know of a lake with good camping for a family and deer within hiking distance as well?
Can a hunter catch and eat trout up there?
