Bear Down, a 1st for me!
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:19:53 PM »
He's not the biggest but I am stoked to have gotten my first bear! Here's how it went.... 730AM I see a hint of movement about 400 yards out. Sure enought bear! I watch him work his way down hill for about 10 minutes then loose him. About a half hour later I spot him again about 250 yards out just below me. I took a shot and missed. He turned away from me and looked to go up hill but I lost him again. I call my hunting partner on the radio and tell him I need to go take a look because I took a shot. He's on his way. About 15 minutes go by and I hear the bear out in front and below me. So I make a sneek down the skid road I was on about 40 yards, and the bushes move. I freeze. Wait like 30 seconds (felt like days) and 50 feet in front of me out pops his head, I wait for him to get in the road and as he is going accross the road and up hill I take him. He dropped right in the road! I look back and my hunting partner had just gotten there behind me and watched the whole thing. My first anamal in WA and my first bear. Looking forward to elk and deer. Thanks to all for the great info on here I have learned a TON and still am. Been a lurker for a while cause I had nothing to show so here he is.
