I had a whitetail late muzzle permit.
My dad's muzzleloader buck from Saturday. We found this buck when it was in velvet in a bachelor herd of 8 bucks. We hadn't seen him since he had gone hard horned...until Saturday. When the group got hard horned, they disbanded and went their seperate ways for the most part. We spotted him feeding behind a rock bluff just before 8am on Saturday. While we watched him, he decided to feed over the rock bluff toward us. Dad made the 130 yard shot, quartering to us slightly, through both lungs. He and the two bucks he was with went over the bluff. The smaller two kept running, but this buck never reappeared. After giving him ten or so minutes, Dad crept up there and gave the internation "Hell yeah he's down" signal. With Washington down, hopefully he can kill a good buck in Idaho in November. This is the first year since 2006 that I haven't muzzleloaded (late whitetail permit I'm waiting for). It was hard not carrying a gun around, so I'm glad Dad got it done early so I didn't have to endure too much torture.
Sorry to disappoint everyone looking for the picture of a 190" but here is a 135 (+ or - a bit) from opening day.
