Really like my 300WM(this is my 4th, finally the last one) not too much gun. And as to damage the bullet tell the tale(tail). Made a bad shot on a black tail bouncing away once, was going for the head/neck and when the trigger broke saw butt. Bullet passed just right of spine and out though the heart. And was really surprised at the small amout of damage. Barnes 180 gr at 3000 fps.

You will love it!  It is the only gun I need for everything I will hunt.  I prefer behind the shoulder shots but it is a personal thing for everyone.  Wide range of ammo choices for what ever species u want to hunt.  A relaxed shooter will not be bothered by the recoil.  The only time the weight of the gun might be a problem is if u r packing in with minimal gear.  Good luck!
