99 ranger 3.0L info?

so i just picked up a new to me 99 ranger with the 3.0 v6 4x4.  was just curious if anyone here has any experience with this rig mainly with this engine. ive owned one ranger before it was a 2000 4L so i am familiar with the ranger species.

what im mostly curious about is are there any common issues with this engine/rig that a guy may be able to prevent before they become an expensive issue

dont get me wrong its a great looking and driving rig only driving issue is my inexperience with a manual trans, this is my first manual trans rig. figured with all the gear heads and mechanics here someone might have some experience with these trucks.

3.0 is the better of the two engines for longevity purposes. Keep the oil changed, they will sludge up if you don't

I had that engine, I sold it at 355,000.  Did head gasket at about 200,000.  Other than that, no problems.  I sold it when torque converter went out.

Had one for three years, in auto and extra cab.  Never had a single problem.  Ran like a champ, ran smooth and started up every time.  Only thing was that they don't get that great of mileage, considering their size.  They get about the same as a full size.
The only difference between a butt kisser and a brown noser is depth perception.

Keep the oil changed and the engine tuned. The biggest failing of the 3.0l was the headgaskets when the EGR system would get plugged up they would burn through the sealing ring in the gasket after a while.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.
