skykomish river
« on: September 07, 2012, 09:20:30 PM »
On our way back from EW, last weekend, we drove hwy 2 back. This is the first time I have done this. The skykomish is beautiful, to say the least. I really want to fish this river. My question is; what is the suggested terminal gear for this river? In the green, drifting dick nites is popular. In the puyallup, #12 or #14 corkies, a small pinch of yarn and a 3/4 oz cannonball is the ticket. If y'all don't mind sharin your setups, please let me know. Also, I was thinkin of fishin around Sultan. Thanks in advance

Know your regs!!!

Spoons and spinners work well, also corkies and sand shrimp, it depends on the section you fish though?? Check out Washington Lakes .com, good research tool for our rivers... Good luck!

Right now, salmon. I've been fishin mostly the puyallup, with success (in fact going in the morning)....I was thinking around the sultan area. I want to check out some new rivers. I fish mostly between the puyallup and cowlitz but I would like to visit the north and peninsula rivers more often. I mostly drift (10'6" medium rod).

It really depends what youre going after. Ive caught them on all different gear, and it can change from day to day what they will hit. Try one thing for a couple hours and change it up if nothing hits....good luck!

The silvers in the Puke fish way better than the silvers in the Sky. On a good year I will boat 15 Silvers out of the Sky I have hooked 15 in the Puke in 1 day. JMO
