Bummer
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I think he gave up when the butcher told his wife the meat was no longer any good of he was dead. something about internals being ruptured by then. he had to work today and Im not going to look for someone else's kill alone  :chuckle:

Take a dog and go for a walk in the woods without a hunting weapon..... ;)

As i just explained to another thread, we do have local gamies on this board, so far I have met TWO that patrol here :hello: very cool dudes, and one I met yesterday we were shocked that he 1-already knew who we were 2. whey we were there 3. what we were looking for  :chuckle: I think its cool they are here and staying updated  sadly we asked about this suggestion, he said no, because since we are looking for an animal that could (heres why) POTENTIALLY BE ALIVE, then its still considered hunting by law and therefor breaking the rules. makes sense to me.

too bad they dont chime in and answer question for us where legality is concerned  :twocents:

maybe we could get the powers that be, to get together with one, and have a "ask the warden" forum

i would bet that he missed, back when you could bait i took this guy huntn and he was telln me how good a shot he was and all this crap, well this bear comes in walks around a bit and back in the bush he goes, few minutes later he comes back but would only put his head out of the bushes, well this guy takes a head shot and that bear went down like a ton of s%^t, couple seconds later the bear jumps up and hauls butt, there was zero blood where the bear went down we still had 4 hours of daylight so we tore that mtn apart and on into the early morning, went home got some sleep and spent the next day lookn just to make damn sure, we still never even found a drop of blood......so hopefully your buddy missed just like this guy did that said he was this awesome crack shot....

Unless I have missed something, there is nothing in the reg saying you cannot retrieve game with a dog.  You cannot hunt with a dog wich means your guns at home and get after it.  This is what a gamie told me.

I missed a bear this year that I thought was hit, it was walking on a log and when I fired it dropped off the log into the brush, but shot out of there real fast without making any noise, thought for sure it was hit.  Looked for several hours not trace of blood or evidence that it even laid down.  We retraced our steps and realized the bear was startled and fell of the log due to the hair cut I gave it with the -06.  After seen 3 bears shot after the miss I realized they stagger pretty good and often make a lot of noise when hit, atleast for us (2 rolled instanly).  The third one staggered before taking off as well as making a lot of noise.

i agree, i really think it was hit but far from fatal, maybe just a punch through & through on some belly fat or something, seeing how it was quartered away just a slight bit in any direction could make it a very non fatal shot.
