Tiger Mountain Elk

Just wondering if anyone knows if there are elk on tiger mountain or the timber land right across from Tiger Mountain?

 I know at times can be found on issaquah hobart but not sure about the mountain.  Around 70 elk are taken out of the Issaquah GMU each year and Im just trying to narrow down where they could be.

I've spent a lot of time on every part of Tiger Mountain and have never seen an elk, nor elk sign. If they are there, they'd most likely be on the southwest side.  Across highway 18 on the Taylor Mountain side is a more likely area for elk.

dont shoot any elk if their coat is, is in the fall color phase, can usually be determined by the trade mark North Face, on the upper right of the shoulder.

I do not know the area well enough. But from what I do know I would start becoming friends with some of the land owners. Some nice bulls have been shot  down low .

Park at Tiger Mountain and cross Hwy 18. You'll want a bike to cover some ground quickly but there is some tough hiking in that area too. There are two roads that go in but watch the signs to see if you have access. Also, be careful of the Cedar Watershed. Sometimes it is closed to hunting. I have seen signs of Elk around the power lines and lots of Bear and Coyote up higher. You'll have to put in some time no matter where you go. Good Luck. Fortune Favors The Prepared

Lots of the good 454 public elk spots have been turned into housing developments or are in the process, or are now part of the " private hunting club". PCC is now strictly employees and family members. There is a couple spots few and far between. I have a spot that opening morning last year i had 5 different bulls bugling at me. All public. I was in disbeleif. But put in your time and effort in scouting these areas and it will be very rewarding. Just watch property lines. Right nows the best time to scout for late season and upcoming years. Get out there! Goodluck.

Years ago I hunted Taylor mountain. Right where the powerlines cross 18, before they widened the highway, was a wallow right on the hill next to the highway. Up in that draw to the south is a swamp. Not sure how grown in it is, but they used to stay in there since it was a treacherous hike in. You could never sneak in, the noise and wind always chased them out. We tries all sorts of strategies but none panned out.

I've seen a couple elk on tiger mountain, but that is just driving through. I've seen a spike and 2 cows. But thats about it

I think you can find coyote sign anywhere ...Even in Seattle

A lot of the elk are taken off private lands. However quite a few are taken off of DNR and BPA lands near Cumberland, Kanasket, and Enumclaw. Some people fail to realize there is a portion of the White River Tree Farm (Hancock) that is in the Issaquah GMU, definitely elk taken off of that area.

Yes, I have been looking into the Issaquah to  North Bend when time is allowed as my wife and I are looking to down size our house and buy something in this area.  We have been looking and investigating you can see the DNR lands etc..
