Wallapa hills grouse?
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:09:42 AM »
Have to head down to Portland this week, and I'm going to spend a couple days chasing grouse on the way back.  Trying to decide if I want to head up around Mt. St. Helens to some spots I've taken grouse in the past, or head over to the Willapa Hills, which I've heard is loaded with grouse.  Has anyone hunted there?  Any general areas to recommend?

I spend quite a bit of time in the norther portions of Willapa Hills and Williams Creek. I have not seen many grouse this year... two, and I may have seen the same bird twice.   :bash:

YMMV

Best grouse year in years in the SW. We saw more elk hunting this year than in the last five years combined.

Without giving away and secret spots, would you please give me some general ares to find these grouse?  I gave a new pup and want to get him on as many birds as possible.

Thanks,

Feel free to PM me too.

find a yellow gate and go for a walk. anymore specific and you would be looking at GPS coordinates.
