I would not say 400 pounds......Hard one to guess though cause his body is not the typical "Monster bear" frame....but he is sure a fatty! Could surprise ya!!!
If ya get him I will put my guess at 277 1/4 pounds.....

I would also probably not shoot him around that salt lick......I would think that is baiting.

I have the trail cam and salt for deer. Do bears lick salt blocks? This bear (I think) is feeding on a wild plum tree and pear tree left over from an old homestead in the early 1900's about a quarter mile away next to a spring. We'll set up on the hill this afternoon and wait until dark. Hope he comes out when there is still enough light for shooting. We took a nice chocolate from the plum tree last year. Gotta go... I'm guessing 277 1/2  :)

Who cares what he weighs.. .he is a pig!!!!!  Shoot the bear, eat the bear,  have the bear made into a rug..  done deal!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Wholly Crud!  He ate Aunt Jemima whole!  You can even see her skeleton pushing out his side :yike:

I'd say he's breaking 400.  Also looks like a bear that hasn't had to forage much for whatever donuts he's been eating.  Is there a slaughter dump or cornfield slough close by?  A bear that big would normally have large shoulders and muscular hinds which he does not.  Either has an easy source of unlimited food or is full of 100 pounds of worms.  I certainly would not be expecting to eat that bear if I shot it.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Not a flat lander just good food. Here are a couple pics of the wild plums and area where "Pork Chop" lives. Went in last night and my hunter missed a 300 yd shot at a smaller bear.

Ya he's a big one alright. Not your typical large frame bear though. If he is over 400, it because of all that fat. Once yo get him carved up and boned out, probably no more meat on him than your average 250 lb bear but he's a shooter for sure. Go get him and let us know
