Saw one on east gate road this morning watching the traffic go by, and I nearly hit one Sunday morning on the way into Rainier.

Come to think of it, it didn't move too much.  Probably bedded down for the winter

I had 5 of 'em under 40 yards two days ago.  Too early to be shootin' does with babies.  It was tempting though, she's huge!  If she's still around come late season.... THWACK!

Passed on a spike, doe, and yearling at 20 yds. Also a small forky at 25. Poked a porcupine in the ass with a stick to get him off my trail and had a skunk in the salal at 10'; which is way to close for me. Been there and done that.

I live in Portland.. saw one dam near in the Ross Island Cement company's parking lot.. Not two minutes out of Downtown.. For all of you in Portland.. Right down the road from La Carietta on McGloughlin & Holgate... and I've seen a bunch of deer in North Portland as well out by the Schnitzer Steel plant and surrounding Industrial area.. They just seem to run around in circles out by the warehouses... Man I need to get in the woods.. There Taunting me I tell you!!!

Missed a few  :bash:, passed a bakers dozen (all spikes and 2pts), and seen quite a few good bucks from a good distance. And!!! Killed a little pine tree at 40yds, that 2pt had mystical powers and diverted my arrow.  :bash:

I had no trouble seeing bucks this September. None of my hit list, but still some quality bucks. The hardest part was getting within range and NOT making noise.

I had several that were coming regularly in front of trail cam thats not to far from my ground blind and seems that as soon as the sun rose on Sept 1st, they vanished and have not been back.  :bash: Kinda frustrating.

A few does around the house in the past couple days. A two point at my pond in August, and thats about it. No bow tag for me though  :P Next year.

For some reason while elk hunting we saw a ton of deer! One clear cut we hunted around held multiple bucks every day. We saw 3 different 2 pts, a big spike in velvet and a nice little 3 pt with eye guards. WOuld of been easy pickins with a rifle! We had a couple shots that I let the other guys take because I have a multi season tag and both shots we had were clean misses, so hopefully they will be around during rifle or late deer if I head down that way!

I've only seen a handful over the past couple weekends but 1 was a dandy and he was not in a spot I (or most) would probably expect to find a big buck, I hope I get another crack at him with the muzzy or rifle.

I'm with you, coastie hunter.  I've been hunting Ft Lewis, seeing as how I don't know the area, out side Ft Lewis,  well enough to know what is and is not huntable land, and I have only seen Mountain Bikers, horse back riders with their dog, damned fools, training their dogs, in the woods,  and lots of trees.   :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

I am not trying to get a 'Record Rack', only put meat in the freezer.  I have always believed the horns take too long to cook and one gets too little out of them for the effort.

I've got until the 28th and, then it is on to late season for both deer and elk, all the while trying to see if a buin will make a mistake and go home with me.  :yeah:
