I have some concerns about this whole thread. Yesterday you posted this up.
Hi there folks. i just bought me a 30-06 and a valid license and im ready to go shoot me a deer! except... where can i go to hunt? everywhere around here is either private property or closed to the public, when i went down to south east of seattle area (south east of enumclaw). im super excited to go but i have no clue where i need to go to find a deer. plz help!

Then you posted this:  :dunno:
Hi yall. im planning to go to yakima and hunt west side of the town (because i see it that its GMU deer hunting area). now when i get there, will i encounter and gates or anything like that or is it legally accessible? i never been on a deer hunt before so i dont wnat to run into anything when i get there
Now today it sounds like you are hunting walking up and down hills and if you don't get anything today you will go some place else tommorrow. :bdid:
So... at the moment im running up and down the hills on west of yakima right now and i do not see a single soul around. Anyone have a suggestions on some other places around here? If i dont get anything today ill probably go around some more tomorrow somewhere else.

I hope you know Koreanese that the ONLY Modern Firearm season that is open is High Hunt Areas. There is no other units open currently for rifles. That would explain why no one else is around. I am assuming that you are rifle hunting since you posted that you have a 30-06. The season for general deer opens on the 13th of October.
I hope you are just bad with words and you are currently scouting for deer.

it takes a lot of scouting to get a deer over here. if you have trail cams, drop them off  on a heavily used trail. search this site for other good info.

you never exactly told us the area you checked  out.  west of Yakima gives us no clue on which unit you want to hunt or were exploring.  there are a lot of legal bucks over here. it just takes time to get to know the area.  do you want to hunt in the sticks or in the sage brush?

I will give you areas to check out but will not give any info on my honey holes.

The Wild Rose fire is burning some of the best places i've ever hunted deer........but that was 28yrs ago.   :'(

So, you seriously were deer hunting today with a modern firearm tag?

I don't get it. What made you think the season was open?

If you were confused, a quick post on here asking WHEN can I hunt, instead of WHERE, would have got you all the info you needed.

So now you have burned many gallons of gas, all to go hunting in an area that is almost the worst place to hunt deer in the state, and it's not even open.

Did you take a hunter's education class in this state?

If not, you may want to check into it, even if you aren't legally required to take it in order to purchase a hunting license.

Kind of.  Only within the wilderness areas.

Yes i took the course

OK, well normally they go over the hunting regulations.

You cannot hunt deer with a modern firearm tag right now. Except in some wilderness areas. And for that, it really takes months of preparation.

You need to wait until Oct 13th. That is when you can start hunting.
