Depends, a j frame on the sneak or a 686 on my belt in the woods. I've gotten back to carrying wheel-guns exclusively again. If we are talking rifles it would be a Savage .308 with a 4-12x Bushnell.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

One guy I took hunting brought (and carried) seven guns one time.  .308 (long range)/.45-70 trapdoor(med range)/10 ga SxS(buckshot-close range)/.500 S&W(bears)/.45 ACP(tweekers)/.22LR boot gun(tweekers)/derringer(tweekers). :bdid:  He made a ton of noise and could barely make it through the forest.  We still rib him about it.

Rifles, i only have 2  :'( in big game caliber and both are 30-06.  Marlin xl7 and a Remington 742 each with a nikon buckmaster 3-9x40.  Pistol would be s&w 686 which is always on my person in the woods.

Hunting wise...  Primary rifle is a Ruger77. (not a MkII) in a magnum cal.  Backup rifle on most trips is a sporterized 03-A3. Otherwise one of my 44mags is on me. Almost always take my trusty Marlin 30-AS (Mr. Lucky), that has seven notches cut in the sling. .

Carry wise... to back up one of my 1911's is a Ruger SP101 in 357mag.
