Under Armor "speed freek" 7 inch hunting boots
« on: September 07, 2012, 10:22:09 PM »
I put on a brand new pair, size 12 and walked probably 10 miles in varied terrain in 80-85 degree weather carrying approx 40 lbs on my back.

Not a good idea in brand new footwear, usually.

these speed freak boots didn't create a single hot spot, no blisters and my feet were cozy all day long - if not a tad hot but heck it was a warm day and I had on some pretty spendy socks to help too.

I can reccomend these

my only gripe was the toe when bent as you step forward had a tendency to flop back flat and make a funny clop noise.  Shoes were a half size too big though, I would have gotten 11.5 but all the had was 12 and I figured I'd wear thicker socks in cooler weather.

On the UA site there are some complaints they aren't staying dry, like the gortex is flawed.
I hope mine stay dry!  Seems like the guys in dry climbs are happy, and the ones in the wet stuff aren't.

I really hope they hold up for a few years, I usually flat out destroy my foot wear inside of a year if I wear it much.

A lot of modern boots and shoes now are made to have no break in time, the trade off is the softer materials break down faster and they don't last as long. :dunno:

What was the price tag? I gotta admit I like seeing new players in the boot arena, but sometimes they are really wanting a premium due to a logo on the boot. My feet wet themselves so I can't really say I care too much of they leak a little, as long as they don't get enough to weigh me down.

I bought the same pair last year and absolutely LOVED them in September and October (that is, when it was dry). Then the snow and rain came callin and then...didnt love them so much. They are not, I repeat NOT waterproof. Other than that, great boot.

I'm on my second paid due to the fact they leaked so bad. Under armour had great customer service and I had a new pair in two weeks. But the new boots leaked like a sieve and all I had walked through was brush with morning dew. All that being said they are the most comfortable boot I have ever put on my feet.
