1st youth hunt w/ Band!
« on: September 22, 2012, 10:34:54 AM »
We hit the range and practiced a fair amount.  He was looking good and hitting a fair amount of trap.  The first duck hunt was a learning experience as we got into the teal.  He was shooting behind many of the birds.  He did manage to kill 3 of the fast fliers.  His 3 bird of the morning was a mallard hen coming straight at him.  He managed to drop it.  When the dog came back it was banded.  Nice work by the little man.  We eneded up finishing the limit with a bag of teal, mallards and one pintail hen.  We also had a flock of 15 geese come in.  He unloaded all 3 shells, but didn't take any down.  We also had two flocks of snow geese fly by, but those will have to wait until October.  Not to bad for a 9 year old.

Mallard hen was banded 8/25/2011 near Edison, WA.

I also had to add one of my son's first hunt with me.  He has spent a lot of time in the field with me.  In another two years, his little brother will be joining him.

Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
