Ohhhh that is nasty! Looks like your knife is nice a sharp....clean cut and all. Glad things worked out for you guys. I got Buckmarks voice mail by the time I was rolling into Sedro Wooly on the way home yesterday. Reception was very spotty for me.

Cool wound and story.  Reminds me of one my better moments ground skinning a buck on the Tatoosh.  At the very second I am holding a piece of hide and starting to cut back towards myself, I think, "this is not very safe," and slice cleanly and quickly through the hide and stick my knife about 3/4 inch or more in my lower leg.  It actually stuck out of me when I let go of it.  Not really serious, a fair amount of blood, quickly staunched by bandages, etc, but what a *censored* I was.

I am thinking we need to add some accessories to your hunting outfit.  You know due to the luck and family history :chuckle:

Between the broadhead incident a few months ago and this, I won't disagree

Yea, things were and are still very tight and difficult but with the help of this forum and it's outstanding members, I was able to fill both tags.

That's awesome.

I notice that you're in Shelton. I'm in Silverdale.  Maybe sometime we could meet up and trade stories. I'll be out hunting the 2nd week of October for Mod Season. Maybe after that.

Maybe.  We'll see.  I work at PSNS too so I am quite a bit closer on a daily basis

Looks like you didn't need my help cutting up your deer either.  Good job.  My butchering is going to be fun with this hand.

What division at PSNS? I've got a bunch of buddies that work over there as engineers.
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

Dang J, you have to be more careful. You have had a few close calls that could have been bad. You are lucky that didn't catch that tendon. My brother cut the one in his pinkey finger and that was a big $ fix and a lot of pain.

Different knife.  It was my butchering knife I keep in my pack.  Definitely sharp enough to cut my finger off.  This was just a glancing cut

Thought I was being careful this time.  I can't blame this one on the stupidity of the human holding the equipment like the broadhead.  This was just a slip.

Funny thing was i had talked about the hospitals in either tonasket or republic, how basically you did not want to get sick and have to go to either, after he cut himself the first thing i said was i think we should get it clean and i have superglue if you want to glue it shut, he passed and we bandaided and pulled it closed with duct tape, stopped bleeding but was at least the best we could do (adding more to my first aid kit after this), then we got some better supplies as noted from some nice people i knew and stopped to talk to..

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I will be sure to bring the whole pharmacy when we head out for yotes this winter.  I never leave home with out staples so we should be good.  But, even then maybe I should do the skinning :chuckle:

Sounds like you got better penetration from your arrow this time.  Must have hit something really hard on the first one.  Liver, diaphram and one lung not a bad shot at all.  Were those fresh blades?  46#/27" and two deer with two shots.  Sounds like you are getting it done  Very nice!

Need to start taking some pictures of dead critters though.  You know the H-W rules...no pictures - it didn't happen.  You do have a voucher so you get a pass. I guess   But two H-W members and no pictures :dunno:  Sounds a little fishy to me :tung:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
