Going Moose Hunting
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:52:01 AM »
It;s getting close to time to head over to 49 degrees for our moose hunt. My grandson drew the tag and I put him in for the tag so I call it our hunt. We have the gun sighted in and the shells loaded and the hunting list gone over and over so we are ready. Got the moose call out and so far it just gets the dogs stirred up but hoping a moose likes the sound. Never been there but some guys have given us some spots to look at so we will be leaving in a few days. Others on here will be in the same area so hope to meet them and see how there hunts are going. We are hoping to have a srory and pictures to show so our adventure is about to start.

Its a great hunt.   I wish it wasn't so hot and dry for you.   Get that heavy black hide off fast.  Bees might still be an issue.   Be prepared.

Was it a good one Rob?  I don't think the record actually was that big.

Del, I had that tag in 1999. Make sure you enjoy the experience: it's once in a lifetime.  At that time I was seeing one bull per day, on average. You have two months. It's probably not too hard to fill a tag in a couple days. If I had it to do over, I'd pass up a few first to extend the experience.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

You would like it!!! Looks to be about 47 wide, 10x10, triple/double. I'm thinking mid 150's

Good luck, hopefully the weather will be cooling down  8) when we went (first week of october) a couple of years back the moose were mostly moving in the first hour of daylight, and just before dark.  Have a great trip!

Has he already had it scored :dunno: I thought they had to dry for a while and heard that moose antlers will shrink a lot.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Awesome, its hard to get a good reading from just one pic but it looks like a solid 155 bull from what I saw. Buckhorn2 should have a great hunt in there too.
