i got a free camera
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:56:17 PM »
i just went over to my moms house on my way back from bear hunting and i was telling her i was thinking about buying a nice camera well she say just wait.  she went into her room dug through the closet and pulled out a old camera bag she gave me her old camera she said she payed about a grand for it along time ago and that it needs repaired but its a Nikon n4004 and there isn't a scratch on it. don't know if anyone cares but i thought it was really nice of her.

A consumer grade camera from Nikon about 10 years ago.  I actually shot a little bit with that camera before.  I like it, but it's not digital...  More importantly, what lenses does it come with?

52mm is probably the filter size...  Do you see anything in terms of focal length?  Sigma does say a lot...they are a third party lens maker that doesn't make very good lenses.  At least back then they didn't.

no she told me that i would have to by a new one that this one was crappy but from my research i don't think it would be worth it i just got on eBay and you can pick one of these up in perfect running order with 3 extra lenses for 100 bucks.  the other numbers i see on it are 1:3.5-4.5 f=28-70mm.   :dunno: at least it was nice of her

It is a start but I'd recommend getting into a digital.  You will learn so much more than with film.  By the way, I see Rebel XT and 10D cameras on craigslist all the time for $300...
