Vandalism/Trespassing
« on: September 23, 2012, 04:36:52 PM »
Our hunting camp is located on state land N of Conconully right next to a snowmobile trail that has two signs - one allowing snowmobiles and the other clearly stating that quads are not allowed. Two red quads and a green quad pulled off the road next to our truck at the snomobile trailhead. The older man and leader of the group on a red quad got off and tore the 'no quads' sign off the tree. Then they all proceeded up the trail. I took this picture of the last guy as they came back by via the road. I reported it to the Forest Service and local police but they both stated that they'd have to catch them red handed. Understandably. These guys sure can ruin some good hunting country by their selfish actions. Lucily my partner and I both got our deer despite the quads.

That's why I don't have much hope for changing the laws in this state to allow atvs to be licensed, and thereby have access to more area to legally ride, (which I think would be great), Conconully has some of the best opportunities to ride, and a-holes like this this can't just follow the damn rules!

I have walked in Forest Service Elk Management gates before, the ones that say "No Motorized Vehicles...", only to be passed by quads two miles in. Yeah, I left before daylight by headlamp and they leave at daylight and catch me in a matter of minutes.

With all the years you guys have had camp there, I'm surprised this is the first time you've saw this.  Actually, a few years back while you guys were camped there, I ran into a quad in the wee hours of the morning on that trail............It isn't going to get any better.

I never said it was the 1st time I saw this but it IS the first time I saw a guy rip a sign off a tree so besides tresspassing, he'd be guilty of theft/destruction of state property/vandalism.

We see a quad or two each year go up that trail and it's been closed since the fires. Selfish jerks ruin the hunting for us and ruin the atv'n for others with quads.

Love it up there. To bad they have to break the rules. :bash:. On a lighter note, it sure is a small world. I've probably drove by your camp numurous times. I would've been over there this year if my wife didn't just give birth to our first kid 2weeks ago... :chuckle:

A few years back some a-hole was driving his quad up redtop mnt in the Teanaway unit on opening day. Atv's aren't allowed. He got caught, and they towed his quad out. I think they took his deer also....

Please, let's not put that up here, even if it is meant as a joke.

Don't give anyone any ideas.  That's really not funny at all.   :bdid:

Why don't you delete it?

I know a Canadian who's experienced pianowire first hand while riding an ATV, he's got a massive scar running up his chin and the side of his face and has lost sensation over much of his face.  He's one ugly scared up dude, a helmet saved his life.

This was on crown land, and he was legal to ride there.....but even if it were illegal atv area if I caught somoene doing this I'd do all I could to get them arrested for attempted homicide.
