Rainy Pass (Hwy 20) Bull moose
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:06:39 AM »
Spotted this young bull literally 40 yards from the sign for Rainy Pass on HWY 20 last Friday evening right at dusk.  I knew there were some moose up there but this is the first one I've seen myself.  Pretty cool to see.

Nice pic. Glad to see their moving this way. Hopefully someday soon we can have a chewuch tag!... and after seeing the pic of the bull in the skagit last year maybe a 426 tag... if they dont make it into a park :bash: :bash:

That is awesome! Now I have another animal to look out for driving over the pass just about every Friday night. I'm usually going by there around 12:30 am. There has been lots of deer this year between the top Rainy and Washington pass'

Last year I ran into some Moose sign up by Loop Loop Pass. At first I thought "Holy Crap that's got to be the buck of my dreams!"
I took a picture to show my hunting buddies back in camp. When I got back two the truck I pulled out my iPnone to show my buddy, he pulls out a sandwich ziplock bag with the same sized poo in it, lol.

After laughing we agreed we were pretty pathetic.

It was not until later we found out it was moose poo, lol

I saw a cow moose in the pond at Rainy Pass a few years ago. I had one frame left in my camera. When I took the pic it autofocused on the sign stating mileage distance to Mazama and Newhalem and the moose looked like a stump in the photo! It was a treat to see one up there. Thanks for sharing.

Bone we went to the end of 30 mile last January on the snowmobiles and ran into a huge bull (no horns) standing in the road there was over 2 feet of snow and he just trotted off the road as we passed but you could see he had trails going to every bush. I'm sure he stayed the whole winter up there. Bowhunter when did you see the elk? I have not seen her for 2 years now.
