Calling Question

Calling this afternoon with the ecaller about 50 yds from me in a harvested corn field.  No coyotes showed up but a flock of magpies came to investigate.  Several of them spent a while on the irrigation pivot behind me from 20-50 yds away.  Apparently I was hidden well enough because magpies are really smart.  My question is if a coyote happened along would the magpie's have given him a false sence of security?

magpies on your stand are good, as with crows or ravens.

sometimes just a flock of birds is enough to bring in a yote

The more magpies and crows the better. I think they seem to ease their minds about coming in.

Sometimes birds follow perdators because they know a meal might be in front of them.

One guy I know says that if you see Magpies, there's usually coyotes close by.  Can't prove it by me, though...

if this happens again try howling or some coyote vocals. alot of times birds will come in but dogs will hang back if their not all that hungry but vocals really strike their curiosity.
