Bear Print opinions
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:34:53 PM »
Went out scouting for deer today and came across this track... What do you guys think? Bear size?   I put some trailcams up around the area where I found the print, so we'll see what comes up.

Thanks all!

Yeah the sand makes it give a little bit more, but looks to be a good sized bear. The front track is the best to use to tell size of a  bear.

Yeah baby.  thanks for the hat for scale included in the photo.  your tracks bigger than the one I hunted last week.  I will post a thread on that hunt.  You got yourself a shooter there.   Location?  western WA or eastern WA?  if there are claws identifiable you might be looking at a grizzley track.  my photo has no scale but the track was from my finger tips to wrist bone.

Not likely a grizz but it is nice bear.  eastside has higher percent of color phase bears also.  two years ago i got a chocolate boar but i would guess that bear is bigger than the one I shot which was just over 6 foot.
