Anyone think it was odd that a guy with 19 posts asked if any of us would poach a wolf?  :dunno:

Grouse pointer you make me sick. wolves were eliminated back in the day for a reason! Because they were nothing but problems! the wolves here now arent even the same breed and are bigger. I just can't understand how a "real hunter" wouldn't see them as a problem. Whats nice about cougars and bears is they don't hunt it packs like wolves. and from what I've been told aren't thrill killers. Wolves will at till kill animals for fun and waste most of it!

While it seems that they kill for fun and waste a lot, I believe they are killing to train the rest of the pack, specifically the younger animals in the pack.  This is what makes them such effective killers.   Just my opinion though

Possibly. Killer whales do that.

Show me where I said they don't exist here? You're back to lying now.

When you say I haven't hunted in wolf country with my dogs, you are wrong.

When you say the Midwest doesn't have prime upland bird hunting, you're flat wrong.

When you try to tell me average people use outfitters, I'll tell you that's a stretch.

And if you try to tell me wolves can't be eradicated now or ten years from now I'll disagree, though concede the laws would need to change.

I'll also say I believe big game can coexist with wolves, though their numbers will likely diminish, because they have historically.

I'll also call you a liar if you accuse me of not thinking a hunt for them is a good idea, which by the way I am calling you.

Don't like that? Well, just like me, you're entitled to your opinion.

I will tell you are 100% wrong there. I have 2 different hunting partners that are "average people" that have used an outfitter, and I am thinking about it for an elk hunt.

Personally I don't find the concept of an ambush predator like a cougar nice at all.

Wolves are going to continue to be a problem which is why they need to be managed through hunting at the very least. The public is also going to need to be better educated. Denning season starts in late February for them, that is not a safe time, particularly for dogs. Kill sites should be avoided like the plague.

Look, I see the writing on the wall and have just accepted it. If that makes you puke, go ahead. But it won't change things. You and I both know it.

I said it was a stretch, not that it doesn't happen. It also depends on your concept of "average."

I find cougars less of a threat than wolves. It'd be nice to use hounds on them. I'm a hunter that likes to see what best for the wild life such as deer and elk. It's clear that wolves arent what's best for them.

One of the nice things about hunting in Michigan was that bear hunters ran their hounds there a lot. Even if I hunted grouse in an area where I knew bear existed, I generally didn't worry because the bear hunters helped make sure they had a fear of man and dog. Washington could use a return of that.

Cougars are less of a threat, but they still kill pets, attack people, and in some cases have killed a few folks. Sneaky *censored*s.

Well it happens, and I would say that they are both "average". One of them was even unemployed for a couple years.

Grousepointer I am a average guy and am planning a guided hunt and so have many of my friends.
My dad lives in MI and runs pointing dogs so do allot of his friends and the will not hunt the UP
Due to the wolves. Not sure how you can say you have hunted in wolf country and had no problems with wolves. I have had issues with coyotes with my pointer

No sir, those wolves are harmless!  :chuckle:
