not sure what numbers you tried - but if you provide your contact information, I will make sure an officer promptly investigates this

That first pic shows an animal with a back that is sloping down towards the rear. That's usually man made (as in caused by poor dog breeding). Coyotes and wolves usually have a more level back than that.

If you can find tracks, look to see if they are in a straight line. Meandering tracks generally indicate a domestic dog, more straight line is usually a wolf or yote.

I'm sure they could be found in Rastle Cock, but I'm thinking the first confirmed sighting will be more likely in Toutle.

Good luck, either way you have a potential problem there.

The news should be all over this...

And the point should be how a hunter was responsible, took a warning shot to protect his property and contacted the officials.  It would be good press....but, not going to happen.

I lean towards NOT being a protected wolf and OK to kill.  I would have and let the authorities sort it out....especially with pics.

that aint no damn coyote,

Well its not a wolf either.
If that is a wolf those CALFS are 8' to the shoulder.
The critters in that picture are 35-40lbs tops.

It wouldn't be good press because they are not wolves.   Hunters/outdoorsman would look rather silly.

I would bet hybrids. We have had a few coydogs around here. We had one litter here that had about 6-7 pups. Some looked like normal yotes and others were almost all black. I bet there daddy was a German Shepard.
