I was sitting in a Blackhawk helicopter listening to the radio chatter as two hawks were shot down and the ensuing firefight. I remember our pilot requesting permission to provide assistance/fire power and being turned down time after time "because we have already lost 2 birds" 

RIP 18 fellow soldiers.
