Remington brass

Just opened a NEW bag of Remington .300WM, loaded two and I noticed on the case neck it was nicked and ding. Same on the other one almost identicle.   :bash:Then I check the rest of the bag  WTF!!!  Some even have smoosh marks on them. The bag says top quality and the finest for handloading. The best componets in the business...... Whatever!!     I bought these one cause the Winchester bag i got last time the case mouths were dented on about 25% no big deal they got fixed with sizing em.  Nothing I can do about nicks, dings, and gouges. Some dents might pop out once shot.     So if this is what they call top quality and send out to store shelves ,are they safe to shoot in this condition?  I feel ripped off!   Whats your take on new brass?   Im gonna have to write them a 2 page letter on how they made me feel!   FRONT AND BACK!!

Yup,  I got a bag like that too that I bought from Cabela's.  I bought Winchester the next time and ordered it at MidwayUSA.

The 300WM Winchester brass I bought at Cabelas had square mouths on 75% of the cases.  No prob after resizing, but the next bag of Winny brass I bought (30-06), was perfect.  I think I would get ahold of Remington and tell them their brass is crap and you'll be doing some negative advertising if the situation isn't fixed

New brass shouldn't be dented at all, period.

Bad batches of winchester and remmy brass pushed me to spend more money on brass a long time ago. I switched to Norma, Lapua and Nosler and have never had any problems. Although you can make almost any brass shoot well in a good rifle..

I get most of my brass from Midwayusa.com never had trouble with remmington. I have had trouble with winchester. Mainly the primer pockets.

I find that the better brass is worth the price in the long run. I like Norma, Lapua, Nosler, Speer, Lake City, Starline (pistol), Winchester, Federal and Remmy in that order. If the brass you bought was that bad I would contact Remmington customer service and request a replacement.

Anything that's shipped and piles up in bulk has a chance to get dinged up.  Just run it through a FL sizing die, chamfer/debur and shoot it.  We have shot a buttload of the Remington and Winchester (crap to most) brass and do just fine with it.  Don't sweat the small stuff, it's not worth worrying about.  On that note, I will say that 7mm WSM (Win) brass is the crappiest of the crappy and doesn't shoot real good on it's first firing.  After being fireformed to the chamber however, it's stoopid accurate.  For my long range hunting guns and anything that really counts, I usually try to use brass that's had at least one firing on it.

I always run new brass through a FL sizing die before I load it.  With the way they(remington and winchester) package their new brass in bags I don't trust that they haven't been mishandled in shipping and been dented and dinged up.  Unless it was shipped in a box with each piece secured I wouldn't trust any brass without sizing it first.  Just my
