I too grew up there and spent lots of time hunting both public and private land, I was very close to the Chi Vang shooting in 06 I think and some of these folks are correct about the number of folks in the woods, Deer drives are very common so in just one drive party there could be 20 guys covering a 20 acre parcel and when they are done with one they move on to the next one and so on till all the tags are filled, I have shot some good quality bucks over the years and I will be there again this year.

My suggestion is to find an obvious spot where there has been deer activity or a funnel area where deer are likely to travel and stay put with full body orange on and a orange jacket hanging from the tree and some orange ribbon flapping in the wind and even bring orange ass wipe,  :chuckle: OK maybe you don't need to go that far, just use the ribbon to mark your trail  :chuckle: and I will almost guarantee you will fill all your tags when the drivers get fired up. The more folks in the woods the more deer you will see that is what I have noticed. If I am hunting on private land I locate myself closest to the border with public land because that is where the activity is. One more thing, practice shooting at moving targets, the grunt or fawn bawl or whistle or "hey" or whatever will just make them run faster since that is likely why they are running in the first place cause they just had 20 guys try to stop them with the same sounds.

Sitting still close to public land activity will get your tags filled hands down, I will be taking Chris_D with me this year cause he maintained a "B" average in school which was the requirement for me to take him, so he can experience what it is like, maybe it will scare him so bad that he won't return, but it is in my blood, if you do go there keep an open mind and just learn from it cause hunting in Wisconsin is, well different !!!  :yike:
The essense of freedom is the proper limitation of government !!!
