*censored*paper is a must! Spare socks will work but if you already changed them out you run a risk of cross-contamination of foot funk and ass sweat.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Food, water, space blanket and a knife.

Telescopic fishing pole. Where I deer hunt there is always a lake around.

Babywipes not TP.  And everything else needed to spend a couple nights in the woods.  Rhino GPS,  old school compass, two sources of fire, plenty of parachute cord, a space blanket, a space body sack, Alaskan Blade Trader, knife sharpener, first aid kit to include a suture kit and know how to use it, headlamp, everything on double A batteries with extras, the kill pint of whiskey, whistle, few granola bars, aleve (in the first aid kit), I am sure I am missing a some other convenient items...
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

Depends on where/what I'm hunting. Most of the time yes.

Day Pack Items:
TP
2 knives (1 Havalon with a couple of extra blades and one small fixed blade knife - don't bring the Rambo knife)
A couple of garbage bags - don't keep the meat in there for longer than it takes to get it out.  Keeps blood off of everything else, though.  I use a framed pack that can take an elk quarter or a whole boned out deer.
Parachute cord
GPS
Headlamp w/extra batteries
Compass
First Aid kit and some ibuprofen
Firestarter (cotton balls and petroleum jelly)
Lighter
Small flint/steel type firestarter (REI has a couple that are less than an ounce in weight)
Space Blanket
A few water purification pills
Athletic tape
Paper Map (Sometimes)
Stocking hat (always carry)
Gloves - glove weight appropriate to weather conditions
Lightweight rain coat (unless it's raining and I'm already wearing rain gear)
Rangefinder
Bug spray (early season)

Food can vary but something like:
Sandwich (something with ham/turkey/roast beef unless the weather is hot and then peanut butter and jelly or honey - use a bagel and it won't get as soggy)
A couple of granola/Cliff type bars
Some kind of snack like mixed nuts or peanut M&Ms
A couple of "energy" snacks like GU, Honey Stingers, Hammer Nutrition, etc.
Water will be either a ~60oz bladder and one small water bottle or two water bottles - this year I've been on a couple of marathons already and, when walking REALLY far, started carrying a Sawyer Squeeze filter and Platypus 2L soft water bottle to put "dirty" water in (the Sawyer water bags popped on my second trip out - the filter is great but the bags suck).  The water filter only goes on extremely long trips and/or it's really hot out.
Mio water flavoring stuff - awesome invention for a backpacker

For rifle hunting:
Extra ammo

For bowhunting:
Extra release
A couple of individual allen wrenches

Optics:
Spotting Scope
Tripod
Binos (wearing)
Lens cloth

Also, I carry my driver's license, bank card, credit card, a couple of $20 bills (never know when a little cash will be handy), phone (turned off), hunting license.

When listing it out it looks like a huge pile of stuff but it really packs down to not be all that much.

I do not carry a tripod or spotting scope.. binos work for me when hiking.

I also carry trail marking ribbon.... since I do not use a gps... map and compass for me.
some kind of small steel for putting an quick edge back in the knife.
Extra pair of socks, and a T shirt.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

:yeah: I have a 10-30 x50 pair of binos. They can see as far as anyone cares to walk when you are in the mountains for a day  :chuckle:
