Waterfowl guide?
« on: August 17, 2008, 12:15:40 PM »
I'm hoping to buy a piece of property soon that is a pretty good duck hunting spot and am bouncing around the idea of guiding there 1 or 2 day's a week and was wandering what it take's to get started as far as permit's,license's,insurance, taxe's and marketing idea's. Not doing it for a living, just to see what it's like to guide people for a fee doing something I really enjoy and think I might be pretty good at. Any idea's would be appreciated. Thank's, Patrick.

This will be puddle duck hunting over decoy's with no boat involved.

talk to snowman........

and i hope you are in a high traffic area, because if you cant show birds but have a good looking pond you are going to have some un happy customers...

hunt it for a while and show success for your self and then when you can prove numbers then put in an add in the paper and see what happens....

Being your own property I would look seriously at the cost of a policy to insure against ay type of accident or even a trespasser who gets in there and hurts himself.  I would say instead of guiding, prove your property's worth and then sell leases to a select few that you actually enjoy hunting with and use that $$$ to help cover the cost property maintenance and insurance.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

Just be fore-warned that I understand some of your neighbors in that area are a little anti-hunting.
