Hurricane's 2012 Archery Blacktail
« on: October 10, 2012, 09:35:52 PM »
September 7th I head back into the area the day before that I missed a 5 X 5 bull and got busted by a big 3 X 3 blacktail. I am going back to sit in the same spot. As I start going down the hill my light picks up some eye balls in the brush. It was low to the ground so I’m thinking cat. Talk about pucker factor time. I stop set my bow down just watch then I see ears moving.  Damn doe. The way she was on the hill made it look low to the ground. I continue on to my spot. As daylight hits I see a doe moving from the meadow up the trail towards me then I see a buck. Having the multi season deer tag I was going to hold out for at least a 3 point in the early season. I see this buck has at least 3 on his left side ok he is good. He walks past a tree I draw back and when he steps out on the trail 18 yards I let him have it. Double lunged. He went up hill and was down. I walked up to him and noticed his rack was a little off I got a freak. He has 2 main beams on his left side. We have been hunting this area for 6 years now and this is only the 2nd hunting trip that we have seen quality bucks in this area.

Yes I did get lucky this year. It had been a few years since I got anything.
