well stang and i had are normal plan to meet about 4 and head out on are evening walk with the rifles.  we had a spot in mind as we left the house then i changed it about half way there.  hiked up and checked out a new gate we have never hunted.  once we got to the top of the clear cut we liked what we saw.  checked the first landing nothing walk up to the next and sat for a bit.  on the way out I asked are we going to check that first landing again?  sure glad we did i spotted the bear at probably 100 yds or so down the hill.  motioned bear to stang standind 20 yds to my right.  I took off  my pack set it on the stump directly in front of me turned the scope up to 9 power put cross hairs on his front shoulder and let the 140 grain hornady go out 0f the 7mm-08.  the bear cart wheels around and starts for the timber line.  knowing the bear was hit fairly good but still on his feet i was quick with follow up shots until he was down for good.  I even think stang fired a shot or two as back up shooter (but he cant hit anything) :chuckle:.  got the bear home about 1am then started skinning.  i would like to thank stang and Dan for the help getting the bear out i appreciate the help.
