I hate a full moon during hunting season.

Year end and year out Blacktail bucks start running around like dummies on the 25th of october (typically the young ones) And then really kick off hard on october 31st through november 11th or 12th and then start winding down to the 20th. In certain areas theyll hit a second rut around thanksgiving but that will only happen in small pockets where does that havent been bred come into a second estrous.
That has been my experience in gmus 652, 654, and 667.

The rut is related to day length. Google "deer rut and photoperiod" for lots of reading.

DeerSlayer is pretty educated on deer hunting  He is right about what times the rut starts and about when it is at its best ...The last week in October is your best shot to kill a big blacktail ...If I could have any 10 days of the rut for blacktail it would be Nov 5th thru the 15th ...But If you hunt late archery at higher elevations like I do then Nov 24 thru Dec 9th is still a good time to kill those high mountain bucks still in the rut ... :twocents:
