Greenwater opener...
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:07:29 AM »
We started out yesterday in Greenwater, tried 2 different places, lots of footwork, lots of posting, lots of looking, saw nothing but 3 doe's, and near wore out our boots. didnt even see one pile of bear scat. So evidently GW stinks, where else is worth heading to on the west side?

buddy is trying to get me to go to the eastside this week, any place suggestions from the guys already tagged out  also I have a question, do you tend to do better with lots of footwork, or posting up and sitting still all day?  :dunno:

I'm out in that area now. Found a spot with tracks and crap (deer and elk) but haven't even seen anything yet.

I walked into the Hancock areas. Found a lot of spots that looked like they should have had deer but didn't. The people I saw and talked to had no luck either, one saw a couple does but that was it.

Walk in only. There were decent places within walking distance and I didn't see another hunter other than trucks driving by on the larger roads. Seemed like most people with motorized access used that to get in much farther.

I've never been to any of their other areas. I have a good spot down south in Vail that I hike into but that's not an option right now. I wish I could say I saw something, I got frustrated at seeing nothing and left earlier than I intended. Probably had monster bucks in the area 10 minutes later.

It's gmu 653, so any buck. I'm just in it for the meat so I'm fine with shooting a spike. First buck I see (legally) I'm taking.
