Springfield 9mm XD???
« on: August 28, 2008, 07:35:58 AM »
My buddy wants to sellt his to me for $250.00 looks like a steal.  Any reviews on this sidearm.  It will be my first handgun.  Also, what does it cost and time frame to get your concealed weapons permit?

Thats a good deal. Especially if it has a stainless top? I'd scoop it up for that price if I were you. It should come with a couple clips too.

Depends on the condition, but here is what I found on Gun Broker for the XD
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp

Here is FAQ from DOL on CCW (that is a mouthful!)
http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/firearms/faconcealfaq.html

Sounds like $250 would be a good deal, but hard to tell without pictures or seeing the gun.

From the basic description and what they go for new, I would jump on it.  If it has not been shot much and in good shape, it is a steal.  I saw them in the pawn shop yesterday for $350 for a pretty abused one, to $450 for excellent.

If you do not want it, have him post pics here and I am sure it will sell quick at that price!

a concealed carry permit is easy to get go fill out the paperwork pay i think it was 60$ and wait a few weeks for it to show up.  oh and pay the extra 4 or 5 dollars to have it laminated because it will go to crap fast.

Sounds like a great deal.

It costs like $75.00 and only takes about 30 days at most.  My wife got her permit in like a week.  In Washington if you are not prohibited due to felonies/mental health issues etc...  they are required to give you a permit.  They can't just decide they didn't like the look of ya or your attitude and turn you down.  Which is nice because a lot of people don't like the look of me.

The XD has a great rep and a lot of competetive shooters use it.

It is the tactical version with the steal rails for a laser or flashlight.  Once I get my bonus I'm going to buy it.

i though an XD wasnt a 1911

http://www.davesguns.com/serverpics/FirearmsPage/SpringfieldXD45Tact-01.jpg

I've shot one and they seem to be one of the most idiot proof handguns on the market. almost as if you load it, put it in your pocket and not worry about it. new ones have thumb safety on both sides. the chambered round and cocked indicators are awesome.

Get it. You could resell it for at least $325...in just about any (non-rusty) condition.

The XD is a great pistol. It's no "target" gun, but makes a great plinker and defensive weapon.

I have an XD-40 and convinced my buddy to get an XD-9 sub compact. They're both great and 100% reliable....will last a lifetime!

They are "similar" to a 1911 only in that the grip angle is basically the same,a nd it has a grip safety....otherwise, it's not even in the same class.

Try it, you'll like it.
I left it better than I found it...did you?

Definitely not in the same class as the 1911.  As mentioned, grip angle feel is the same and the saftety, but that is where the similarity ends.
My comment was just related to pistols in general.
The XD is much lighter than the Kimber and WAAAYY cheaper.  Appraisal on my Kimber was $975-$1000. I would say that the XD can be sold for somewhere in the neighborhood of $374-$400.  I would love to have an XD-40 for a carry gun, but the profile is thicker than my Kimber. It would be a much lighter carry and works well for defense, albeit a little lacking in the stopping power of the 9mm.
As I said, if he does not snatch it up, one of us would in a hurry!

I've got the money in my pocket as we speak.  I am also getting all his extra ammuntion, a 10 and 15 round clip, and a holster.  For $250.00.  It is the tactical version.  Now I want nightvision goggles and you can start calling me ARNOLD.

just a cool link showing the cocked and chambered round indicator.  i just think its cool cuz you can grab the gun with the mouse and spin it 3D.
