2012 deer season (Langer)
« on: October 14, 2012, 03:11:19 PM »
Yesterday morning i harvested the buck ive been watching and taking pics of for over a month, was a great experience and a complete success. Started out the morning sitting up top on the bluffs and looking down into a bowl trying to set my cousin up on some deer, then we moved down to the lower end of the hill and on the way saw 20+ deer passing up 7 or 8 legal bucks in hope i could find the one ive been watching. We got down to where we thought they bedded the night before and started hiking up the face of the hill.. we get up top and start looking around and i was telling my dad that they had to have been bedding down over here. i just happen to peer over the hill and theres 2 big bucks standing and one laying down,,, i hit the deck and tell my dad the bucks are right below us!!!. i was questioning myself in my head at first that the 4 point i picked out was not in the group until he stepped out of the shadows and at that point i knew it was him. we were in a pickle on the skyline so we couldnt stand up withought being easily busted so i belly crawled another 30 yards across the hill to try and get a closer shot. i get in a pile of rocks and assume my position. range 335 yards.. quartering at me then turned broadside BOOOM the 7mm-08 got the job done and lights were out he piled up instantly and didnt hardly phase the other bucks, soon enough (felt like forever but probably 20 seconds later) my dad picks the buck he wants to claim, Range 356 yards and BOOM he tips over as well. We arrive at our trophies and i was just taken back and so happy that i got the buck i had been holding out for..   It was very fun that me and my dad both took nice bucks they were 4x4's with eye guards. we have been pretty busy in our hunting group, been getting quite a few bucks this weekend too and have been shooting some really good video.  spent all last night hanging and skinning bucks and boy am i tired.
